My friend has a 1998 or maybe 97 Evinrude 115 spl that has low/rough idle problems. Does anyone have a complete idle /timing procedure available for the engine or know where to find it online?
I’ve looked quite a bit online and have found some info but it doesn’t seem comprehensive or complete enough.
give us a model number as there were two different models of 115 made that year. One a crossflow the other a looper.
I’ll have to check. There was a number on a freeze plug but no other tag to be found. Can you look and tell which style it is?
If you post a picture of the block that would work. Or if it says OIS ignition on the plastic cover on the back side of the coil pack.
It has individual coil packs is all I remember . I’ll get some pictures but it looks like this.

Does anyone have the sync and idle procedure? If I need to provide any additional information do you have tips on how to find out more On this engines model, year, etc?
There should be a tag on the swivel bracket with the model number and serial number on it. OMC doesn't use serial numbers for parts ordering and when BRP purchased OMC in 2000 they dumped most of the data bases for the older motors. Never the less, here is a link for a 1997 90/115 HP CV manual you can down load in PDF format, will cost you $13.95 but it is factory. The Sync N Link procedure will be in chapter 1
