    Wrong oil?

So I purchased Mercury EFI oil thru amazon. Had my oldest fill oil reservoir just now, he comments Merc changed colors. I go downstairs and find Merc DFI oil written on 2.5 gal jug. This is for my 2003 Merc 3L EFI.

Am I screwed? Can an EFI burn DFI oil?

Merc DFI oil is not TWC3 compliant. Not intended to be mixed with gasoline.
Sorry I meant TCW3. Thanks for the catch.

If you have not run the motor yet, then it is an easy fix. Drain the bilge tank and add Premium Plus.

Thanks all. ^^^ No I haven't run it yet. True I could drain, makes things simple, but I have 5 gallons and if usable without worry, I will use it...if not, will drain.

You can NOT use DFI oil in a EFI motor...…..Drain the tank and scrap the oil.

If you use normally use Mercury or Quicksilver Premium Plus you could capture everything you drain and sell/give to a buddy with an Optimax.

See post #3. You should not use it.

Don't use. As suggested, dump contents of remote tank, hand it off to someone with an Optimax.

Don't use DFI oil in your EFI. Lubrication is excellent, but there is a potential for the DFI oil to separate from the fuel (in the fuel system). Not worth the risk.

Once you refill the remote tank with Premium Plus, follow this:
