I have the 7'4" version, and they should be pretty similar - great senko rod, flukes, finesse jigs, etc. It's a MH and rated to 3/4 but it's on the M side of MH as most Dobyns rods are, about a half flex soft. I tend to stay around 3/8 with it, ie smaller spinnerbaits, finesse jigs, swim jigs, T-rigged senko, etc.

Thanks for the info , is it okay for 1/8 -3/16 Texas rigs ,3/8 oz finesse jigs ? Seems like it excels at wacky senkos .. would it handle a weightless Fat ika with a 5/0 hook?

I feel the new HP fish about a half power more than what they are now. Blanks are faster than the previous version. Ive got an 742,743, and 745. The 742 is an awesome senko rod while the previous dx743 was a great senko rod. I usually fish 3/16-1/4oz trigs on my 743. If you dont want the 742 the 703 will be your only option. The 702 is a finesse rod.

Oh this is a good point, my 743 is the prior DX version, the HP's do fish a bit faster. dx742 i use for wacky senko, weightless worms, etc. dx743 for t-rigged senko, worms, etc or finesse jigs and small swim jigs, etc. 702 is more of a true finesse setup ie 3-4' worms, drop shotting, etc.

Ok so current dx hp rods listed on tacklewarehouse are a tad faster/ stiffer than previous generation.
