Installing a G Force trolling motor release handle

I have a older Minn Kota Maxxum 101 witha 52 in shaft. It still has the original rope and handle on it. Just bought the TH Marine G Force handle and was looking at the installation instructions. My original rope goes under the first pin, then over the second one and attaches to the release lever. Is that correct or was mine installed wrong from the factory? Looking at the instructions, it looks like the cable needs to be under both pins??

When the motor is deployed, the rope will come straight out from the lockslide eye, around the pin (under as you said), then straight up through the hole in the bowguard.

I installed the same upgrade on my Maxxum 74lb thrust TM and had no problem with the installation, i can't remember right off on how the cable threads threw the lil metal sleeves BUT its a heck of alot easier than the original old rope and small handle
