How much better is the hole shot on a 150 sho compared to the 175 on the same boat? The 150 has 2.0 lower unit gears which would tell me better performance out of the hole. I think the 175 has 1.86

Thanks! However, if I have a 1.86 ratio with the 175 and drop to a 21” prop to increase holeshot, I’m then on the rev limiter. Go up to a 23” I lose holeshot but gain top end
I figured a 150 with a 2.0 would give both holeshot and top end
thanks again
If it's propped right you aren't going to notice a difference in holeshot but the 175 will be faster on the top. My buddy and I had the exact same model Skeeter boats, his with a 150 and mine with a 175. His holeshot was no better than mine but I was considerably faster on the top. Granted I did set-up work on mine, tried different props until I found the right combo and ran a blueprinted prop and he did nothing. Regardless, even before I did all that I didn't notice any perceivable difference on holeshot between the two.
Don't matter … look at boats max HP rating and go with that... Simple.
Thanks! Third option, get the 150 and so I can have the 2.0 gears and flash ECU to a 200 HP. Flashing a 175 or 150 makes it a 200. :)
I think the 150 and 175 are 4 cylinder motors. But the 200 is a 6 cylinder. I might be wrong but i dont think you can flash the 150 and 175 to a 200. Now the 200 can be flashed to 250 and even more i think.

GO Fins!!!
200, 225, or 250 can have the ECU flashed to 300.
