Does no one fish for crappie there lol
I do in the spring and catch them well. We are getting a cold front now and water temps have been in the low to mid 70's so I would suspect the crappie should be following the bait back into the creeks and may be catchable like spring techniques, slip bobbers and tube jigs. I have been seeing them stacked up on my DI unit as I idle around on flats in the 12'-15' depth range and they are suspended in their vertical pattern around 8'-10'. All this could change now that we will have a few nights in the 40's through this weekend.
I would not eat any fish from Old Hickory.

so dont eat fish from there
There's nothing wrong with eating crappie from Old Hickory. Don't let anyone scare you away from that.
I catch them in the spring, but haven't fished for them in the fall. I gave it a shot today, but had zero luck.

Despite its reputation, the Cumberland River water quality is actually pretty good. Been eating fish out of that water for 30 years.
