nikon 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR lens?

Considering this lens for my next purchase. Anyone have one? Likes, dislikes? Buying a wimberley gimbal head for shooting wildlife. Was also looking at the 300mm 2.8 with a 1.4 tele. I currently use a 70-200 2.8 with a 2X tele. I do like the zooms for their flexibility when the birds and other animals are moving in and around my position.
Thanks for what you have experienced.

I used one for the weekend and I liked it.Just cost way to much for me. I got a sigma 150-600 and love it.have put 1.4 tele on it and its ok.tried the 2.0 on it and it was way to slow to track moving things.

The thread I started titled "What I've been up to" , All photos were with the 200-500. I love it.

Been using a 28-300 3.5-5.6 instead of the 200 2.8 and find that adjusting ISO with a D750 with that lens is butter. It's a little heavy but for the range of what I want to do it's the nuts on 'em. My 0.02 cents

By the way, what would be any opinions of a tele extender on this lens (28-300). Will a Nikon 750 be able to compensate with ISO on action shots in lower light?
