    Critical warning alarm 250 4s

    Battery voltage high reading 17.5
What are the causes of this...put engine in guardian mode.

Lithium batteries? Have you measured the voltage on a multimeter?

I would say find out what is really coming from your battery. It could be some freaky bad battery. Also make sure there are no lines running from your trolling batteries to your cranking battery. All speculation but I think you have to start there.

I would suspect that the primary cause is the failure of the voltage regulator.

Put a voltmeter on the battery prior to engine start. Should be nominally 12.7 volts if the battery is fully charged. Start the motor and monitor voltage at the battery. If it rises above ~ 15 volts then the voltage regulator is not doing its job.

I would not run the motor anymore and take it to your dealer, its a new rig and under warranty and it probably has a defective voltage regulator. Running the motor with too high a voltage can damage critical components, thats why it went into guardian to protect itself by reducing the alternator RPM,s.

It's already there. I was just wondering what could be the cause and I was on the water at the time of post. Limping back to landing. Got to do some graphing on my way in.

Good to hear you are having it taken care of. Sucks with a new rig.

Causes would be a Bad Alternator (specifically voltage regulator), or improper battery/wiring.

Report back if you would, it's always good to hear/see the resolution.

    Correct...Bad Alternator
Mercury sent one right out should be resolved Thursday.
Will update after I run it.
