No not really. It can look like pea soup some time in some areas. Honestly, that water is gross lol.

The couple of times I have been there, visibility was 2 to 3 feet depending on where you were could be more or less. My wife was born and raised there and is of the opinion that the lake is disgusting lol.

My late wife fished there when she was a kid back in the fifties, she said it was clear as drinking water. I guess that's how it got it's name..

Depends. Clear Lake is natural lake with lots of weed growth. Spring time water is pretty clear in spots. Summer you get algae blooms and lots of floating scum. Late summer water gets a brownish tint from decaying plants. Then late fall it gets a nice greenish color.

Every year is different ,Last 2 summers algae wasnt to bad. Each end of the lake varies.Ive seen it where you can see 20 ft deep.Last 2 years the water didnt clear much in the spring and any sight fishing was a real short window.Right now the lake is good shape . Brown to green stain depending on where you are. Water is still pretty warm 69 degrees today.
If they would quit spraying the weeds it would clear up better.
After heavy rains mid lake is always the clearest and most years never gets muddy

Last year when i visited, the water was beyond green - not sure what was up with it. Might be making a haul down there this weekend actually, if so i'll report with an update.

I have been on the water 2 day, I have 2 more left
The water right now is stained for sure, about 1 foot visabilty.
As was mentioned above, the infamous algae bllom was not bad this year.

How's the bite? Pretty far for me, about 3hrs one way - worth it right now?

I was up there at the end of August, only had about 13 lbs a day, but enough bites entertain us through out the day . Had a good time with my buddies and was worth it.

I wouldn’t eat any fish out of that lake, pesticides, fertilizers, meth labs, forest fire run off, algae bloom and mercury. That said great fishing lake! LoL!

The lake used to be pretty clear in the late late fall and early spring, Jan-May, HOWEVER, in the last 10-12 yrs they have been spraying the weeds and tulles and have ruined the natural filtration of the lake. There were years that the weed and grass seemed to take over the lake and then other years not so bad. Sight fishing was awesome !! Now the window is much smaller and shallower. It's a natural lake, so there is a real ugly algae bloom in the summer and is pretty "Pea Soup". Still an awesome lake to fish and has some real string stretchers in it !!!

It actually can clear up at times, I had been there about 8 years ago and it was the clearest I had ever seen with about 8 to 10 feet of visibility .
