Idk if the new eyeball lights mounted on the top cap look any better than led strip lights. I couldn’t put them under the rub rail I don’t think but will peak tomorrow. My 521vx has a really hard cut under it which helps with spray

The silver bump on the top cap of the charger 210 is the nav light. One on each side, its stamped coast guard approved and made by TH marine.
These threads always go the same way every time.
I've never heard anyone that actually got a ticket. It's always "I know some body"

Life is kinda hard but it's
better than the other options .. er ..option !
If you fish at night u want them in the rub rail as they are too bright otherwise.
I don't always find schooling fish but when I do I backlash on the first cast
I installed Southern LED Marine Nav lights in the top cap - these are brighter than most Nav lights I have seen and have worked great on my Phoenix. No glare at all while driving but the PHX has a tall top cap that lends itself to this style of light mount.

Those are illegal. The navigation lights must be seen for 180°

I have mounted my, 12" strip LED lights (Green/Red) on the top side of the rub rail. I drilled a small enough hole to push the wires through in the front compartment. I then put one drop of rubber silicone on the hole and it's looks as if nothing was ever done.
There is one company that already has the lights installed in the rubrail, you remove the old rub rail insert and install theirs. This makes it much easier.
This is the spec I used when I cut my Bluewater strips into the rubrail. With my original bow mast nav lights turned on and the strips taped in place, I viewed both from dead on to 112.5 deg. on both sides, sliding the LED strips fore/aft until they matched the original NAV lights.... I even taped a protractor on the bow with a string to verify angles! lol
I got extremely lucky that my bow curve allowed a rubrail install with LED strips that resulted in meeting the "letter of the law". But the LEDs are still not Coast Guard approved - so I use at my own risk.

I have mine above the rub rail and have had no issues. I also carry the original light post just in case someone objects, lol !!

Nitro is now.
And if you have Talons orPower Poles You can put a light on them, no more putting light on and off.
Yes, I did as you mentioned and just stuck them to the top cap right above the rub rail. It then put a small smear to silicone around them led strip to help keep them secure. So far so good.... 3 years and counting.
