    removing something bonded with 5200...update

yesterday I helped my friend try to remove that piece of aluminum from his transom bonded with 5200. To say it was on there is an understatement but he got some anti-bond 2015 from West Marine and we followed directions and after about 1/2 hour it finally popped free. Let me tell you we were outside and that stuff is potent we were both dizzy from smelling the fumes so don't try this inside...lol or wear protection but it works like advertised.

My Champ had a fixed plate mounted with 5200. The glass shop said they could remove it and tear the glass off the transom then repair it for $3000. I used Unbond and it came right off.

I use an oscillating orbital saw, with a wood panel trimming blade,it's a flat blade and will cut the 5200 but not the transom

I have use small propane torch with tip designed for thawing pipes.

Heat jackplate with torch, being careful not to overheat, and jackplate came off pretty easy.
