Hey there, I just bought a few boxes of the Hornady Critical Defense in 223. I got them in the 73 grain weight for Deer hunting. Does anyone have any experience with this ammo?
See ya

The thing that would concern me about this line of ammo is the description on Hornady's website:
The unique design of the Critical Defense® FTX® bullet offers quick expansion and limited penetration from self-defense rifles.
"Limited penetration" would give me pause if using for deer. I might look for a more traditional bullet design to ensure adequate penetration.

Critical Defense is just that. A bullet designed for defense. I would not use it for the taking of big game. You would be doing the animal a disservice to shoot it with a bullet that was not designed to create a wound channel sufficient enough to cause it to bleed out.

Not designed to take game. Way to fast expansion

I saw it advertised on a program last night. I thought it's for in home defense
I echo what the others said. I would not use a round design to limit penetration on deer. For that matter, I would use and .223 round on deer either.
