New center seat / step storage plus other junk collectors... pic heavy

These are all ABS plastic and glued together. Pretty easy to do and I am pretty happy with the way it all turned out... What do you guys think?

I think it looks great too. How thick is the ABS material? Where do you find the material and glue?

Re: New center seat / step storage plus other junk colle ... (lakecc)

I got the material from a local place near me called Tap Plastics ( http://www.tapplastics.com ) they sold me the glue and the material. I think the glue is Weld-On 2354

On the center seat/step I used 3/8 on the sides, lid, front/back, and the divider in the middle. I put the divider in just to be safe and make sure it could support 280lbs of me. Then I just went with 1/4 on the bottom. I could have went even thinner on the bottom because all it does is sit there it doesnt support any weight.

The 2 hanging boxes in the back and the "glove box" in the dash are all 1/8". I just got the 2 hanging boxes in the back done last night and have not gone down the road or been on the water with them, so I hope that the small 1/8" lip will hold up. After pulling them out after they set for 24 hrs they feel really strong and I think they will be fine but I am still a little nervouse about it.

The hinge on the glove box and on the center box are also plastic and glued on. The hinges and latches came from Tap Plastics as well.

Looks great. What would you say you have wrapped up in $ on that, and how strong are the joints on that? Could someone sit on there if needed?

Re: New center seat / step storage plus other junk colle ... (mduncan62)

Ive got about $150 (not including about 8 hrs total time) wrapped up in all of it, center step storage, 2 aft hanging boxes and the glove box in the dash. As far as sitting on the center step / storage, yes you can sit on it. I step on it every time i get on the back deck and I weight 280lbs. When I first put it in I stood on it, jumped and wiggled around to make sure it wasnt going to fall apart when someone stepped on it. It seems to be extremely sturdy, even more than I had hoped it would be before I built it.

How did you attatch it for the step mount? Or is it just tight enough to hold there?
