    coupler height

got a new truck and trying to work out ball height. the sticker on my trailer says 18" coupler height required? is this 18 from floor to bottom of coupler? says plus/minus 1.5" so not super critical? new truck is a 4wd and old truck was a 2 wd, so much taller bumper height. was using a 4inch drop upside down and boat towed fine? thks

You need the trailer to be level. So level the trailer and check the height and find hitch to match. I use a 2” drop on my GMC 4wd.

Put a level on the trailer,, level it. Measure ground to bottom of hitch.
Park truck on level ground, measure to top inside of square add 1/2 inch..
So lets say level bottom of trailer coupler is 18 inch, inside top of square is 24,,,
    U need a 6.5" drop,
