Thinking of selling your boat? Here are a couple things that will make your buyers (and finance companies) happy.

1. Take good clear VIN plate pictures of the boat, motor and trailer. Sometimes trailers are tough but do your best.
2. Have your titles, registrations or any other ownership papers located. It's always easier to look ahead of time than rush around under time pressure.
3. If you have a lien, get a letter stating your payoff. If it expires, you can always refresh it. Again, go through the process on a good dry run when not rushed.
4. This sounds very simple BUT - Make sure things work up to expectations. We have worked with a few buyers that show up to test drive something and it will not start. Sure the unforeseen can always happen but prep is important.
5. Think about what you would expect from a seller you would turn money over to. Be ready.
6. Keep your word. If you agree on a deal, that should be it. If the buyer is financing, it only take a couple days.
