The op, being from Minnisota...might not be too aware of the hazards associated with bank fishing especially in tall grass. Just a friendly reminder from someone who has been agressively approached numerous times by our sharp toothed friends.

Ok. I’ll translate for the OP. Tall Grass and the State of Florida ...

Alligators up to 14’, Rattlesnakes and Cottonmouths.
We don’t play in tall grass here. It’s a definitely “No, No, No”.
Go around it, go over it but never go through it.

And don’t stand with your back to tall grass. We have Sasquatch!

I've dispatched 2 Coral snakes at the dog park this year and only did so because of the other elderly folks and "little to None" anti-venom in the entire County (Citrus County)

Screw that ... we have a Stand Your Ground law. Stop, turn and warn the gator to stop or you'll draw on it in three seconds.

In Florida we have just 2 seasons....Summer and Christmas.... The bite is more determined my moon phase, cold fronts and changing water temps which is of course controlled by the weather. About the only serious advice I would have is that if you gonna fish in Florida you gotta be willing to fish all day and not get a single bite. It has happened to me more times than I'd like to admit. I fished Orange last weekend and was on some excellent looking spots but got nada. Water was pretty muddy so I'm gonna say that is why I failed to get bit. In Florida, it happens. Finally gave up about 1:30 and went home and watched Ga get whipped! But the Gators won so the day was not a total loss!
