This is what I did. Works great for my setup. Rod socks on the rest. About 15 in total.

I easily carry 20 rods in my Eyra's rod box even with the rod organizer left in place. I put 12 or so on the floor of the box then put my top 8 in the organizer for easy access throughout the day. Works for me.

I have the rod organizer/tubes in both my port and starboard rod boxes and would do the same in my next one. I prefer having them in.

I liked the rod tubes BUT...
Even with rod covers I would often hit and bend or break the guides on the rods.
Since I have removed the tubes therehas been no more damaging of the rod guides.

Just broke my first rod guide in the rod tube of my Caracal, and that was with a rod sock...Might have to do this removal thing to my locker?
