05 250 HPDI VST filter

Changed out the filter last night. I went fishing this am and as soon as I try to get on plane she cut out. I tried several times with same result. Yes I did squeeze the ball and filled up the tank. I fished for 4 hours and decided to head in to fix the motor. She got on plane but I could tell she wasn’t 100 percent. After stopping it was back to cutting out. I went home and did the filter again. I made sure everything was correct and I’m still getting same results...what the heck did I do wrong? I simply changed the vst filter

Did you have the correct VST Filter and when you put in new filter did you make sure that the float in the vst tank was placed back as before the filter removal?
Sounds like the float is not correct and causing a fuel restriction.

Any other suggestions..my mechanic is stumped!

It maybe sucking air. Sometimes that strange shaped VST o-ring gets pinched when you put it back together and it doesn't seal right.

It was the medium pressure fuel filter connector on the fuel side. Thanks!
