Thanks! May I ask how you know? Just curious if there is some articles or posts out there to learn up on.

I would think a 24 would be weak for that new v8 and the added torque. My 2 pennies is it could easily spin a 25 in the heat w a full load. potentially a 26-27 light or in the winter

I didnt see the “new” part.

I am judging based asked on my 2017 Pro XS.

However, I have read that the new engines turn more RPMs and require a smaller prop.

I have a 2019 Cougar FTD with the new mercury pro xs 250 4stroke and I'm spinning a 24p fury with awesome hole shot and killer top end.The 24 is what BCB recommend.

Drop 1” on all propeller sizes from two stroke.

If the new v-8 ProXS motors have more low end & mid range torque pitching down does not make sense unless they actually have less power than we were told.

My thought is rpm range. Since the new Pro XS turns up to 6200 rpm. Lower prop equals more rpm and hole shot. I don't think it's a matter of turning the prop but rather optimizing prop for that particular motor.

My guess is the 4 stroke has plenty torque it just comes in at a higher RPM.
Redline is higher thus the reason to drop prop size.

I just set up a new Cougar FTD with 250ProXS V8.. Atlas Hyd. JP, Dual 8' Blades, Ultrex 112, so 4 Batteries, 1 Full fuel Tank other 3/4 Full, Live wells full and my fishing gear.. I started with a 25p Fury.. Hole shot was similar to a 250 PXS Opti. Dropped to a 24p Fury and it really came to life! Hole shot under 2.5 seconds, 78.8 MPH @ 6150 RPM so far! It's not fully broke in yet (2.4 hrs.) and I know it will run for the proud new owner...

Yes, Sherms on track. The new V8 engines will run fine with a bulk of propellers, though we found only one particular size and style to be sweet.

we were at the Factory the first part of the month and every boat that had a 250 V8 on it was running a 24.

just a theory of mine but I would assume that the new motors being 4 stroke take a little longer to get into the power band so the drop in pitch helps spin them up faster on take off and with a longer RPM curve it helps on Top end to have the smaller pitch also to keep them up in RPMs
