Interstate agm cranking batteries are junk

6 months old dims or turns graphs off, first thing in morning . Have to jump it by lunch. Interstate says nothing wrong with it. With fluke meter it drops 1.8 volts moving jack plate up and down once. Friends 6 month old does same, they refused to make up either one! Don't buy they're junk

Every now and then get someone happy with Interstate batteries but way more stories like this. When I bought my new boat it had Interstates in it, they did not stay in there long. I was not taking that chance.

Same thing in my 16 Ranger..lasted about six months, end of the day, had to jump start the optimax. Garbage batteries especially for the cost..Ranger keeps putting them in boats.

I've been preaching this for years........

    INTERSTATES ARE PURE GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!!

Get you a NorthStar(X2) AGM or a Deka AGM and you will have no more battery related issues. You can thank me later.....

Yep. I ordered my new boat without batteries and brought my own (4 Northstar/X2 31 series AGM's) when I picked the boat up.

I took out the Interstates from my Ranger and went with the Deka Group 31 AGM's. They have been great.

I had (4) 31 series AGM Deka Intimidator's in my 2009 Z520, zero issues running two 1197's and everything else.

Heard all the buzz and good reviews on the Northstar/X2's so decided to give them a try in my current boat. Zero issues so far running two Solix 15's, 360 and everything else....

I've had interstate batteries in all of the boats I've had (7 of them) I did have one go bad back in 2006. Other than that they do quite well for me. I buy mine from Sherm's Marine. He has always given me a good price...plus he puts them in for me.

I've not had issues with Interstate lead acid batteries. I have no experience with their AGM's though. When I switched to AGM I went Duracell which are rebranded Deka's. No issues with those either.

One of the first items I told my dealer I wanted replaced were the Interstate Batteries in my Ranger. I left it to my dealer's discretion as to which batteries they felt would be best. I believe all 4 are the X2 31 AGM's......or Deka AGM's.....can't remember for sure.

Had Interstate batteries twice before.....both times they lasted only 1 season and were dead... I'll never buy them again.

    That's my experience.

Which AGM ? they have several... Reminds me of the optima threads,,,
Let me buy a battery made specifically for cranking then get butt hurt when it wont run my graphs and pumps all day. Despite the websights specifically saying, this is a cranking battery not meant for low continuous loads.
Get the DUAL PURPOSE batteries, that can do both.

I had an interstate cranking battery on my 16 520. Lasted about a year before it started giving me problems. I still have 3 interstate trolling batteries that are on their 3rd season and going strong however

Most of if not all are referring to the Interstate AGM 31M DP (dual purpose) it and the other two group marine AGM’s made by interstate are dual purpose batteries. Not our first rodeo with boats and batteries.

Boat new in 2003 came with Interstate SRM 27 batteries. Replaced them in 2008 with same.
Just this week one will not hold a compete charge and the other one is dead.
I don't consider ten seasons that bad for $100 batteries.

Sorry off topic but had to voice opinion about Interstate.

You could have left out "agm cranking" and still have been correct!

I've used non AGM interstates in other applications and had average performance from them. My post is specific to the Group 31AGM
