    HELP Rajin Cajun 185

after 20 years I bought another bass boat and I am trying to dial it in. It is a 1997 rajin cajun 185 with a 1997 yamaha pro v 150.It came with a 23px14" laser ss prop. First issue,it was a dog on the hole shot and wide open it was at 5700 rpm. the spec I found on this motor was 5500 rpm. I installed a 24px 15" tempest ss (both props are 3 blade) and a dole fin. Hole shot is perfect and wide open at 60mph (gps) rpm is 5500. My buddy tells me the boat is in the water from the consels back,I have it trimed as far as I can (must be a limiter on it that I can not find). There is also a 5.5" manual jack plate on this thing. I am about 4" prop to pad.Live well empty, aprox. fuel load is 3/4. What am I missing or am I looking for something thats not there?Any help would be great. Thanks Jim

That speed seems right for a 150. If I were you I would adjust your jackplate up 1/4” at a time until you begin to lose water pressure. It’s trial and error until you find exactly where that hull/motor combo wants tobe run. I doubt you will need any hydrofoil once you find the sweet spot.

It it sounds like you’re close though! Good luck.

The rev limiter is 6150.... Prop it to run 5800-6000 w/o any problems. The 23 and 25P tempests are better props in stock form. The 24 has less lift. Keep raising the motor until you l;oose bow lift, speed or safe water pressure... 11lbs or more.
