    Better carpet less heat?

Will better grade carpet (20oz or so) with or without padding make the carpet cooler to stand on during the summer heat? My thinking is the cheaper carpet like the 16oz that comes on my Tracker 190TX allows the underlying platform to get hotter.

I think you'll find color of the carpet will make more difference than anything else.

    Also the color of padding.
I put new light gray carpet in my boat and added black under padding on the front deck... One of my partners was put out that I did not put some on the back deck for him... He was fishing bare foot one day and decided he DID NOT like that hot front deck.
It's amazing how much hotter it gets than the back deck with no padding.

I’ve had light tan, dark and light gray. They ALL get too hot to stand on in direct sun in the summer. I just wear shoes when it gets too hot. Get what looks the best and move on to catching fish.

I've had black carpet, grey carpet, light grey carpet and red carpet, all with and without padding... You're all crazy, carpet color and padding or lack of padding does not make a color hotter or cooler... And it's been above 90* here in Ohio and Tennessee for the last month... So don't say Ohio doesn't get as hot as _______... Dan

I figure it's to many hours in the 90 degree Ohio heat.
