I say both. I don't have Power Poles but have a 12' Talon and Ultrex. While I mostly use the Ultrex to keep me in a spot there are times when a shallow water anchor is preferred. But if it's a choice between the two then I would opt for the Ultrex.

Where do you spend the most time, deep or shallow? If shallow, go with the poles, if deep, go with the Ultrex

I’ve got both but I use the ultrex more, even in 3 or 4 foot of water. Mainly use the poles if the wind is at my back and I don’t want the rear of the boat swinging around.

Depends on how you fish. Want to be completely stationary in shallow water for flipping a target over and over? Get poles. Want to stay on an off shore way point OR have the TM run you on a heading or course? Get an Ultrex. If you want to do both, get both. The are different tools for different jobs.

No mention of boat type? Ultrex for sure, poles maybe. Do your research on adding poles before you jump in. You can spend a lot of cash getting your set up right. You may have to re-prop, back wash, balance, a few things to consider. Good luck on your decision.

untrue with Power Poles unless on a smaller underpowered rig. with that said having both are great, 2 very different tools.

Have both, but if I was limited to one or the other and money being no option I would get the Ultrex 10 out of 10 times. I believe that trolling motor is the best piece of equipment I have ever owned its that good!

If you fish mostly shallow and like to sight fish for bedding fish, go poles/talons. If you are an off-shore angler go ultrex.

I have both but if I could only choose one it would be the Ultrex. I found myself not using the shallow water anchor much, most of the time I use when I load and unload the boat.

This for sure. Ultrex is more versatile.
