    Ultrex Bracket

Was wondering if okay to remove this bracket or not? Almost crushed a rod when I put TM down other day.

That steering box and head is fairly heavy.. It will bounce a lot and cause premature wear.
I switched sides with mine after busting a rod.

Yah .. mine mounted on the other side .. you definitely need it .. the weight and any big water does a lot of bouncing around..

Very nice but in OP case and mine it would not solve the problem.

Trolling motor looks mounted at a weird angle. If I was to put the stabilizer on that side it would land on the top cap.

I never realized that you could put it on either side. I had to go out to the garage to see for myself. My 52" would hit the gunwale if it were on the outside.

You do have to be careful stowing that motor, it does come down with some force if you're not careful. At first, I put a little square of white gaffer's tape to mark the point of impact. After a while I finally broke down and coughed up the twenty bucks for the little Bob's Machine Shop Decksaver, https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Bobs...age-BOBST.html It really helps to remind you not to leave a rod or toe in that spot.

depends on the boat.. I wish mine would reach the gunwale.
