    Lowrance point one question

I added a point one, on the bow (port side), as that is where I spend most of my time. It was between there and transom, both spots showed zero interference with a handheld compass. With everything electrical on, normal operation.
When I have the MFD's (echomap plus 73sv) on the bow, all is well.
When I move the MFD's to the console (starboard side), the boat icon moves at an angle, or sideways, can't remember now.
Is this because the units are then on a different side of the boat?
    Something wrong in the settings?
I have not done any calibration, as I have not been able to find anyway to do so.

When you say all is well with MFD's on the bow, Is the trolling motor deployed in the water and you are moving with trolling motor? when you move them to the consol and see the interference or icon deflection, is the trolling motor stowed?

For when the MFD's are on the bow - trolling motor deployed and in use. The boat icon is correct, speed is a Max of 3.7mph.
When the mfd's are on the console - trolling motor is stowed. Speed is a Max of 23mph. What I do not remember now is, at what speed does the boat icon go to an angle. Haven't paid attention to that, now that I think about it. Now that I'm writing this, I also need to pay attention to whether or not this happens when both MFD's are on the bow, or just one. Or would that matter?

What happens to the deflection of the boat icon when you stow the trolling motor aboard, which probably also corresponds to the movement of the mfd to the consol? My guess is that your point one is too close to the trolling motor. When you deploy the trolling motor you increase the distance from the point 1 and all is well. When you pull that big magnetic trolling motor on board, it then causes interference with the point regardless of boat speed. Moving the MFD to the consol itself should make no difference to the deflection of the icon. You probably need to move the point 1 off the bow away from the trolling motor. if you move it to the stern area, it will be located near the transdusers that you use while idling and searching for fish and structure. Your consol mfd can be set to use the point 1 for both gps and heading while the bow Mfd can be set to use the internal gps for position and the point 1 for heading.

basscfo - yes, stowing the trolling motor corresponds to moving one or both mfd's to the console. I don't remember if i checked for interference when the trolling motor was stowed, when i was laying out the system, i did when the trolling motor was deployed and on.
I'm going tomorrow, ill stow the trolling motor - with the mfd's on the bow, and see what happens. Moving the point one is an option. I have a spare piece of backbone\drop cable and some tee's, might take them along, and move the point one. That way i can leave the existing cable in place, just redo some tee's and terminators.

Basscfo - that's it! I deployed and stowed the trolling motor several times. When stowing it, the heading changed.
I forgot the extra nmea2000 stuff, but it doesn't matter.
Now I need to decide if I want to move the point one. Or live with it.
    Thank you!

Check with a compass, might only take a few inches.

Am I comprehending this right? You can run a Lowrance point 1 heading sensor connected into a Garman head unit for a heading sensor???

That is correct. As long as your display has a NEMA2000 input.

Thank you very much. Not to steal the thread but could you also share way points from a different brand through NMEA 2000 as well out of curiosity?

Start a new Thread and be more specific on display setup. That is another topic.
