    1999 johnson 175–J175PLEES. Serial #:G04635543.

    J175PLEES. Serial #:G04635543.

I just recently replaced all 6 carb bowls, floats, Needles and gaskets. I was very careful to put each bowl back in the same one it came out of. The motor and seems to idle fine. When giving it throttle it seems to bog and shut off. I have noticed that it seems to smoke more than it use to as well.
Was not sure if all carbs will have to be sync to make it run correct. Any help would be great!
    Thanks!!

Did you move the high speed jets that are in the carb bowls to the new bowls?

Where were they located? I thought I took each bowl apart and put it right back together just like it was.

They are behind the carb drain plug, it is the big brass screw at the bottom of the carb bowl.

👍🏻 Got 6 order and should have them tomorrow. Will take the carbs back down again. Is there anything special that I need to do when putting them in?

    Thanks!

No need to take them back apart, just remove the drain plug and screw them in. Use a stubby screw driver for the bottom two carbs to remove the drain plug.

How far do I need to tighten the high speed jet or does it just slide in behind the bowl float drain screw?

It's a plastic bowl, just snug it good, the new style drain plugs will keep it from backing out......It screws in.

Did you order new drain plugs or just move yours over to the new bowls. If you ordered new what part number did you order? yes they screw in.

As long as you've installed the high speed orifices you should be fine.

That made a world of difference. Ran the boat last night and it ran pretty impressive. Still has a slight little studded when you get on the gas, but if you ease into it it picks up and runs great!
