Got a small utility trailer, single axle without trailer brakes, uses a common 4 pin wire harness.
My brakes lights and turn signal lights work properly, but my park lights/side marker lights don't. any tips or advice appreciated. Thanks.

Most likely is a blown fuse in your truck.
Do other trailers work on this tow vehicle? If so, how are trailers plugged in to the truck? 4-pin? 7-pin? Adapters? Next start with the brown wire at the tongue and see where it goes.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
nothing else matters.
Hooked it up to my dad's pickup and had the same issue. So I'm thinking it's a trailer issue vs a truck?
Could be, but it's possible that the trailer issue blows the fuse in the truck. Troubleshooting two problems at the same time can be frustrating. Start with tracing the brown wire or wires as they leave the connector. One goes won each side of the trailer, so any problem will be in the tongue before the frame splits. You'll likely find a splice there that has failed.

Power is needed between brown+ and white- for running lights.
All lights out, I would begin at the truck/trailer connection.

Like said above it could be blowing the truck fuse..
I like to start at the truck -- make SURE to have power at the plug and work my way back.
