    Trailer Brakes

Friday I had to take an alternate route to the lake because of paving. The route involves a quarter of a mile hill that is in my estimation around 6 percent grade about the 1st mile of my 8 mile trip. When I got out of the truck, I smelled brake dust but didn’t give it much thought. When I got home a couple of hours later because of an electronics issue the smell was bad and I then realized it was my trailer, specifically the right wheel. It was very hot and alot of dust was on the wheel. After it cooled I removed the wheel and everything looked fine. My question is did the long steep grade cause the caliper to lock down because the left side looked fine. The right wheel rotated fine by hand and the rotor was smooth, pad not digging in. It’s a 2003 185VS.

If the brakes have never been serviced I would suspect the caliper bolts need to be removed, cleaned and re-installed with a quality caliper lube. I do mine every year for peace of mind.

Where do you find information on how to remove caliber bolts?
