I’m looking for a glass rod for shallow cranks . Preferably 6’6”-7’. Target fishing so short to medium accurate casts.

Enigma Atomic 29's are very nice for shallow cranks. I just got the 7' M for just that technique and its awesome, very sensitive for glass lightweight and only $100.

Academy H2O Xpress Classic. On clearance for $11.28, I believe.
Powell makes a good glass/comp rod along with Kistler's Feel N Reel.
If you can find them, it's hard to beat a Seeker S glass or a bit softer, the Lamiglas MB841E.

I would look at dobyn's lineup of cb glass rods. I really like all of mine. The 705 cbglass could be what you are looking for, what size baits do you typically throw?

Powell 705CB in Inferno, Diesel or Nusance. All available cheap right now. I might lean toward the Inferno cuzz it's prolly the stiffer of the bunch for making accurate casts.

I think most of the rods mentioned are composite not true glass rods.

I just got a dedicated squarebill rod yesterday and the result surprised me. I tried so many rods I was really over it until I picked up a 7’ Medium, Moderate Abu Garcia Vendetta Winch Series. I’m using a 5.3:1 Concept A because I tend to fish very fast and I had to slow myself down. This reel is small, super small and it fits this rod perfectly!

I got it last night, threw a few casts in a pond on my golf course around 11am today and caught a fat little 2.5 pounder and I was smiling the whole time because the rod/reel combo with Tactical 12lb flouro was literally perfect. Didn’t think I could be this happy with an $80 rod!

There's one from the past. I remember having one of the original glass ones, pistol grip and 6ft.

Not really a budget question. More looking for opinions on glass rods not composite graphite. I’ve built many of my own rods but lack the time to do that now. So opinions on glass rods please ? It will be used for close quarters Crankbait fishing. Lay downs, wood and other nasty stuff on the bank.

ALX Rods Hustler is full glass. No composite. It's juts not old school glass that was really heavy. Resin systems and even the glass itself have evolved.
