I was real close to buying one coming out of a 461. I like the Ranger quality and fishability and that rig is at the top of the list. There are early models rated for a 200 and later models rated for a 225. Regardless of where you fish, even Erie, this is an awesome rig. Not a 20 footer but a great front deck layout.

I had a 2011 Z119 and then two 520s and now am back in a Z519 (same hull as 119). The 119 is a great hull for fishing small to medium waters and can be a very good hull on bigger waters if set up right. At 19’6” it can’t stretch across Lake Erie waves, but with the right motor and prop, you still can drive around most of the bigger waves without jarring your teeth out or getting too wet. Storage is very decent, and the main thing I truly miss from a 520 is front deck width. The 119 is not small, but a 520 has some major width up front, which makes for a super comfortable fishing platform. A 119 with a strong 225 and a good 4-blade prop is very quick and maneuverable on all waters. With the right 3-blade, it can even keep up, top end, with a lot of 250s. Feel free to PM me if you have more detailed questions. — JC

A couple of guys around here have them, they both said the boat wasn’t as smooth in rough water as they expected but maybe they were expecting too much. A lot of that can be helped by a goos driver. It is a well laid out boat and fished very well.

I bought mine off the lot right before they changed the 119c badging to a 519 and I love the boat. It fits my needs perfectly, easy to tow and back into my garage, great size for fishing around docks (Lake of the Ozarks), and handles anything I want to do with the 24 Fury 4. I've added a lot of the 519c trim pcs. and also a 24v Ultrex too.

I will say this about the 119 ride: if you take it airborne in large waves, you probably won’t like the landing. The bow is relatively sharp and flat, and doesn’t absorb that kind of shock as well as the heavier, more blunt-nosed 520 (for one) does. But since the OP fishes a lot of inland Ohio stuff, he isn’t going to have rough-ride issues often, if at all. Also, fishing mainly shallow water without noticeable current, a Fortrex 24 volt is an excellent choice for trolling motor (don’t know what the boat has on it). 36 volt is always nice, but not needed on this boat on inland waters, and the extra battery will weigh it down in the rear more than it is worth for that application, imo. Note: I have the same hull with a 36 volt Ultrex, but I fish Erie a lot, and that is different.

I think the guy that has the boat now fishes Erie and he is going to a 519 or 520 so the boat may be set up with 36v no big deal lol

Have had my 119 for 3 seasons and love it. The size for me is perfect and the storage is amazing. It is laid out just right for my uses and will probably be the last boat I buy.

I have a 2014 Z119c and I love it. It's fast, stable, holds a ton of gear, its reliable, and fits in the garage easily.

I have a 2016 519 with a Mercury 225 (signature below). My prior Rangers in recent years were a 2006 188VS, and a 2010 198 VX. The layout, storage, front deck, and trolling motor down fishing is sweet. The wide body is great to fish out of but does get more wave slap due to its width. It is a bit smoother than the 188 and 198 but not a big wave boat as previous posters have mentioned. My boat does not get great bow lift (may be due to the 6" jackplate instead of the 10" recommended) like my 198VX did but does still hit low 70's eventually. Overall, I would not hesitate to purchase it again as it meets my requirements and exceeds all the other boats that I have owned.

LET US NOT LOSE SIGHT OF HOW FORTUNATE WE ARE TO ENJOY FISHING AND THE OUTDOORS! CATCHING JUST MAKES IT A BIT SWEETER!

I love my boat. Bought new, 2013 Z119 with 200 SHO. Great layout, plenty of room, plenty fast for me (low 60's) I regularly fish St. Clair, Erie, Traverse Bays, and numerous inland lakes in Michigan. It fits my needs perfectly, and fits in my garage.
