    Question 02 225HO FICHT

Over this past weekend motor started acting up. Would crank up great and run fine most of the morning. Made a run about 20 minutes, started idling a bit and the motor just shut off. No alarms or nothing. Tried to crank back and would spin about 2 or 3 times and nothing. The top 3 lights on the system check gauge would light up but no alarms. It would start back up after 15-30 minutes but died again few more times. Hooked up the laptop with the diags and no codes. I'm going to replace the water/separator filter and see what happens. Thoughts?

When were your plugs done last? Mine starts doing dumb stuff like that when the plugs are on the way out. That is why mine are getting changed this weekend.

The 3 lights coming on - LOW OIL excluded - means the EMM has an intermittent fault and needs repair or replacement.

I chased a similar "no start" issue on my '03 Ficht 225 for a couple of weeks and the moderators here had it properly diagnosed from the start - had to have my EMM serviced ($500-$600). My motor never stopped while actually running, just wouldn't restart and the three RPM gauge lights would stay on. After awhile, it would restart and then misbehave again. No codes and another symptom of my EMM failure was EVDiags would not stay connected with my keypad on...

So after some more troubleshooting I've eliminated batteries, solenoid, starter, EMM, wiring harness. Suspect it's the fuel pump/VST. Was able to remove the fuel pump but how do I remove the VST the easiest? I did notice that the fuel pump is not kicking on right away when I turn the ignition on. I had to bump it to hear it come on. But was not able to repeat that. I have spare parts to test. What could it be? Oh I also tried another power distribution panel.

How did you figure out it is not the EMM?

If you tried another EMM did you put the matching injectors in the motor as well?

Not for the test run to repeat the problem. If I was going to keep it on there I would.

Check your inline fuse for the fuel pump. It is located right next to the fuse panel. I had a cracked fuse that would turn the pump on and off at random times. You could see the crack unless you really worked the fuse.

I tried another EMM that is known to work and the same thing. The other EMM worked before. So both EMM's are bad?
