    618 jackplate

I'm seeing a lot of 618's with 8" sometime 10" jackplates! This strikes me as unusual for an 18" boat.

Is this the typical setup and any opinions on why?

I ordered an atlas on mine and it came with 10 inch jackplate. this is standard for a jackplate on that boat and I don't know why.

I'm thinking 8 was standard for the setback plate. My boat was about 2 years old when I realized it had a 10 atlas and not the 8

I believe the older 618's came with an 8" plate and the newer ones come with a 10", not sure when they switched. My '17 has a 10.

I brought this up before when talking about P2P. I always wondered why the larger boats people suggested the motor higher than the 618 and some brought up less setback than say the 919 and 721. But they all come with a 10"er now. That is when I believe Hank and some others that owned older 618's brought up their boats came with the 8" plate.

Thanks for the info. When you say "older", was there a change in the boat at some time? Or you simply referring to the year it was sold.
