    Wawasee

Our club is planning on fishing up there the first weekend of October, I have never been. I wondered what to expect and if its worth the 4 hour drive.

    Thanks

Lot of off shore weed beds, smallmouth and largemouth, and clear water. Channel between syracuse and wawasee has a bunch of lily pads and docks.

I like the lake, gets a bunch of pressure but still puts out good weights on the tournaments.

Joe pretty much described Wawasee. I like fishing the lake too, although I've not been up there for several years. I plan to fish there in a week or so. It could well be worth your 4 hour drive. It has produced some nice fish. I like to fish the off shore weed beds myself.

I have done well on Syracuse from time to time. Pretty much the same type fishing as Wawasee.

Less offshore weed beds, but it has some interesting things in it, easy to fish them both, just a 10 minute boat ride. In the fall boat traffic won't be bad like it is now on both lakes. I sometimes hide at syracuse, because there are more idiots on wawasee.

My partner and I qualified for a regional tournament held up there many years ago, its the only time I've ever been on that lake. I enjoyed the lake its very nice and we did catch some nice fish, however the locals that live around the lake didn't seem to enjoy us being there...............didn't get that warm fuzzy feeling if you catch my drift!

Yeah they can be something else. Probably one of the worst lakes for an angler to fish. When you stay off shore the day goes much better

I've not had any problems with the local property owners while fishing up there, but then, other than the spring time, I am almost always fishing off shore.

Sounds like it will be an offshore deal, even in the fall then. I really appreciate all the help BTW ;)

The lake dwellers are not friendly at all, nor do they have common sense. My wife asked how the boat traffic was the last time we went, I answered "Well I only flipped off 5 boats, and yelled at two boats, so it was about normal". In October it won't be bad though.

The collective IQ of the pleasure boaters on Wawasee is hands down the lowest of any Indiana lake. Which is a pretty bold statement considering what we all deal with at Brookville, Raccoon, Patoka, etc, etc..

I like it when they get close enough to cast a 1/8th ounce shakey head across their boat. That only happened 5 times the last time I was there.

Wow, only been there once in the 80's but that's saying something.
