    90 horse Johnson carb varnish

Even with stabili and running every two weeks I'm ending up with gummy residue in carbs. Would it damage the motor to just run it out of fuel. It's had the vro removed. I finally found a place that has non ethanol fuel and will give that a try as well.

Dont run it dry.....fuel and especially oil in there for a reason. When you run out of gas, you run out of engine lube. Some oily residue in carbs is ok,,,Without VRO the oil is always 50:1/even idle and low rpm's. Nice thing about VRO is it regulates/changes the mixture but most people have no clue how it works. Run it, it will be ok. Just messy LOL.

I finally bought a transfer tank and am going to try running only non ethanol fuel for a while. I will see if that helps.

Non ethanol has nothing to do with the oily residue that gets inside carb throats and pan,,,,,,,

Did the "varnish" start all of a sudden or a long term deal? (did you notice it after any service or repair)Have you owned it for awhile? Any fuel system/carb type maint been done to it? Is it running ok?

I'm leaning toward bad fuel. Non ethanol and it seems to be fine right now.
