I have a brand new lew reel that will work fine for a while but then the spool quits turning and the handle will just free spool. I have messed with the drag and checked everything and can’t find the problem. Any ideas?

Send it to Lews for a replacement
If it's still under warranty, send it to Lew's and let them fix it. It costs you nothing.
Any chance it’s spooled with braid and slipping on the spool?
Sure sounds like a clutch issue. If that happens make sure the thumbar is all the back up. You can try pressing it back down then engage the handle again and see if she re-engages. Dan
