    1988 stratos 201

I picked up a 1988 stratos 201 from a friend after it just sitting for 7-8 years. I redone the carbs, replaced all gas lines, removed vro pump, new starter, new impeller, and rebuilt the transom. It has a 1988 xp 150 on it with a 14.5x22 raker prop on a 6 inch jackplate. The prop is 3.5 inches below the pad. I know this boat is underpowered with the 150 but it’s like a tank to get on plane and the speedo shows 55mph but it’s only turning 5200 rpms. What prop should I try out to get my rpms up closer to 5800 and a little more speed. I’m coming out of a skeeter zx202 with a Yamaha 225 so I know I will never get that performance with this motor but I would like a little more pep. Thanks

5500 is all the 150's turned. The 175 turned 5750 but on that boat 55 would be very good. You could add some PVS vent holes to the prop to get a better hole shot but I don't think you'll get any more speed.

You may want to bring it down to 4 inch below pad and start there. OMC motors like to run a tad deeper than Merc and Yam

That 201 has a wood transom and it might be rotten if the boat has set outside. Might have some other things rotten too.

Speedo or GPS if your truly doing 55 with a 201 with a carbed 150 I'd say your doing great dont touch a thing as you cant get anything more out of it.
