    Powell Rod tip repair???

I’ve got a Powell Endurance rod needing a tip top. Easy right? I can’t get the dang thing off. What have they glued this thing with? I’m afraid to heat it too much in fear of damaging the blank.

Probably some type of epoxy. You can:
Get a dremel with a blade, cut the metal tube and then pry it open and off. Never a fun job and a lot of work.
or trim it right behind the tip and put a new tip on
or keep heating it slowly with a lighter, etc and just trying to work it off. You dont want to go over about 225 degrees. At that temp the resin in the blank will turn to mush and the blank will fall apart.
or you can soak the tip in boiling water and wait for it to heat thru the tip and that may loosen that epoxy up pretty good.

    Just a few options.

Yeah, I know how to remove a tip but this one wasn’t moving and I know too much heat will damage the blank. Thanks for the reply.
