Show me your transducer mounting location -- Humminbird HDSI perferred

Ok just switching over the the Humminbird HDSI transducer and trying to find the best location. On my smaller xnt 9 180 si transducer was mounted on the top of the step hull. With HDSI it will only mount in a 90degree, so it will have to attach to the back of the step where drains and pump outs are. When I tried to put it there, its seems to be lower than the hull/pad. So I'm trying to see how everyone is mounting theirs??? TIA

This is the ONIX HDSI with the Transducer Shield and Saver mount attached to the underside of the transom step.

I did have the core unit HDSI transducer in the same place before that. I fish in trees and stumps so I did not want it at the hull bottom.
You can have it that low just by moving it farther from the keel.

i was trying to mount mine on the underside of the transom step but the mount would not go to a full 180degree, but would only bend to a 90degree so I had to mount it by the drains.

That is why I use the Transducer Shield and Saver mount.

No, it is too far from the hull bottom. That is why I stated "

    "

Just need it more to the right to get it to the hull bottom level if you want on-plane 2D/Depth.

Wayne, I noticed you have a flat head screw holding your drain plug in. Any particular reason? Seems would be a bit of a pain to take it out.

See the picture in post #8.

The screw does not hold the plug in, it expands the rubber plug. I took a T-handle plug, removed the T-screw and put a bolt in its place. No issue with the plug getting dislodged when sliding across stumps.
No way would I use a lever plug on that lake.

I picked up some of these to potentially block off livewell drains havnt tried them yet...

For bilge drain I personally like the lever plugs, easy to reach down and pull it out for storage on the lift, but there is no structure to hit on the lake.

Sorry didn't mean to derail the thread...

I have my Helix 12si transducer mounted to a transom saver plate (Starboard) on the lower step of my PT190. It reads correctly at all speeds.
