Are they still talking about closing the plant? That lake is a definite hotspot come winter given the tournament schedule. It’d be sad to see it go to a ambient lake.

I hope they don't close it.
On north 3rd St, they're currently replacing the transmission lines, and doing work to the sub-station at rt 127 and north 3rd.

I hope they can find a way to keep it going but realize today’s markets don’t have much love for coal powered generating stations. Didn’t know if anyone has heard some local inside info that the news hasn’t posted.

Will the lakes still be open if they close the plants?

I think DNR runs/manages the lakes but I’m not sure how property would be delegated if sold. I’m confident they would stay open though.

I even asked Dynegy when they bought Kincaid generating station on Sangchris if they would allow higher horsepower permits up to 40-60hp where a boater paid an additional fee for a special permit to run higher than 25hp. They could use that revenue to buy rip rap for better shoreline protection. They told me DNR makes those decisions so I’m guessing these lakes would remain under DNR authority and stay open.

Went yesterday, still 83° at the main ramp. Didn't catch any bass. Did get a channel cat and a bluegill.
