This motor has been flawless since new. I did have to replace the armature about 5 years ago but that's all. Worked fine Friday, charged batteries and went fishing the next day and nothing. Had both batteries checked and are fine. When I step on the switch, the blade turns for 5 seconds and quits. I let off button, step on it again and it will turn 5 seconds and quit. Put new brushes in it and same thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

could be anything from a broke magnet (maybe from the run back to the ramp) to water in the lower unit.

lower unit was dray as a bone. Thanks, I think I'll just replace it as it's 12 years old

Update. the breaker was bad on the trolling motor side.
