Was asked to fish a couple of days on Erie and I know we will fish Canadian waters. He said that I didn't need a passport, What kind of ID do I need, would my drivers licence be ok or do I need a birth cert. Thanks Rick

There is a post 4 down from this asking the same question.....
You don't need a passport just an Ontario license and some form of ID as long as you don't anchor or come ashore...The call in requirement is no longer required...
It wouldn't hurt to have a copy of your birth certificate just in case something goes bad and you have to make a run for shore..

On a number of cruises that we went on, it was suggested that, when we went ashore, we carry a photocopy of our passport page.
Not quite sure what that would do. In addition to a driver's license (which, in some States, you don't have to be a citizen to get), it might persuade the officers that you ARE a U.S. citizen.
