Test carefully! I discovered that my boat did not like a 32 labbed Promax. First try the bow would not lift and I did not push above 80. That test was in slick water which did not help but I removed 50lbs of tackle from the bow and tested another day with a little tail wind and chop and it seemed to fly well till 92.44 when the bow dropped and I made an uncomfortable right hand 45 degree turn. Was testing with lower engine heights than what my stock Promax run to aid in bow lift. I did not do any further testing as I took my data as a warning.

Jay, did you run the 28 lab that Geoff had? Curious on how it ran for you.
I have had two and kept one. The 26 lab runs unbelievably quick, but its a 26 and will only run 89. I like it so much it sits in a box and I never run it ( the down side of having a prop you really like). I had a 28 and it suffered from lack of lift as Jay describes and ran slower top end than the 26. Both were stock lab props. The 26 and the 28 did not look the same, so I think Merc works them differently. Maybe different people working them to different criteria. The 28 was thin and super sharp. The 26 is much thicker and not as sharp.
I also have a Pro finish 28, and 30. Comparing the 28 Pro Finish vs the 28 Lab Finish, my 28 Pro Finish is much faster. But, I think the 28 Lab was worked to not perform well on my boat. I have never had a 26 Pro Finish, but I did have a 27 and 25 Pro Finish. I had the 25 before I started all my data logging so I don't have any good runs. The 27 Pro and the 28 Pro run very close in acceleration, but won't touch the 26 lab in accleration.

thanks for the info gentlemen. sounds like I can save some money.
Mike, my 28 lab is on the limiter at 87 with the 1.62's and 77 with the 1.75's. Runs great with both cases and is a good team prop with the 1.62's. The slip no's are almost off the chart. Considering sending it off for a little work.
thanks Dean; that is some slip.
I had a labbed 29 and it got a little funky feeling in the mid 90s. Sent it on down the road.
