Re: Post your top speeds (blazr21)

I get 75.7 GPS in my 2005 21X, with 225 Optimax, 26 Tempest Plus, 6 inch jack plate with a little under half a tank of gas and full tournament load going down river and get around 72-73 GPS up river and on lakes. Propshaft is between 2 3/4 and 3 inches under pad. Any lower and it is walks too badly to be able to drive it, any higher and I start to hit the rev limiter. It handles great where it is. I can take corners better and faster than most boats I have been in by just trimming down a hair. I may send off my spare 26 Tempest Plus to Marc and see if I can get a few more mph out of her. Good luck, your friend should be able to get a little more speed out of that boat.

Re: Post your top speeds (Paul L.)

    Good Morning, some interesting numbers.

2002 Triton SF21 normal gear 4 batteries, 1/2 tank one person. Yamaha OX66 225 stone stock 71 mph GPS.

These numbers are becoming the family feud, My son races PWC's on a national basis. He has a goal of beating my topend, he keeps missing it by about 1-2 MPH. Mom and I laugh!
Although he gets there in about 5 seconds. Must be nice to be young.

Re: Post your top speeds (Paul L.)

I finally have a decent gps to get an accurate speed....

    1999 Tr20 200 Merc. EFI
    25 Tempest
    3" below pad
6" jackplate w/2" spacer (trim extenders)
2 guys, 7/8 gas tank, FULL tourney load
    68.4 mph
I'm sure I could over 70mph with just me and a light load!

Re: Post your top speeds (tritonmanbama)

    Will,
Get two inch setback plate, for total of 8" setback, and set of trim extenders.
Then when you have the nose up, you will hit the rev limiter, next you will
need a 26" Tempest worked by Mark Croxton, (BBC PROP MODERATOR).
Then you will be running 74 or 75 gps tournament loaded.

Setback plate and trim extenders relatively cheap. Mark can work your
    25" Tempest to 26" for $155.00.

    Good Luck
    Ben

Re: Post your top speeds (ESOX50)

You would love the 175 Optimax, then your guages, wiring harness, shifter would
be the same. And give you a big increase in speed, and great gas mileage.

Unreal numbers! Really interested in the complete setup information. I'm running my third boat like this and have yet to get close to these numbers.

Re: Post your top speeds (basscrazy)

    TR21 (2000)

Custom hull designed for racing (250lbs lighter than stock hull) Mercury EFI 225.

Top speed 80 m.p.h. @ 5000 rpm with:- calm conditions, just myself, 28 rods and assorted tackle, 1/2 tank of gas, my lunch (5lbs including ice and fluids!) a minimal wind and of course a lake with a slope in it! (LOL)

Quite frankly it was WAY TOO FAST for me, but you know you have to just go for it sometimes!!!!! Nowadays I average 55 to 60 m.p.h.

    Tight Lines!

I would guess maybe that's a speedo reading and not gps? Wonder what she'd do if you could get her wound up to 5600 or so.

Please contact Earl to find out where more of those racing designed hulls are.

You're right Ben. Where can we get our hands on some of those specially designed hulls?
