Question 1998 PII Power Question Mariner 200 2.5 liter

    Hello
Just bought a PII and it has Mariner 200 2.5 liter. Does anyone know what top end speed should be on this boat? I’m maxing out around 52 mph. I did a compression check when I bought it and it all checked out. I’m thinking I may need to raise the motor on the jack plate? Or maybe that is top end for a 2.5 liter?
Thanks for any comments on this..
    Jason

Should run 70ish when propped/setup correctly. Assuming hull isn't carrying extra weight due to wet foam.

    What prop?

The boat was garages kept and has not been stored outdoors... the motor had a 106 hours on it when I bought it.

You mentioned only getting 52 mph... What RPM is your motor turning at WOT? You defiantly have something going on.. Your PII should be a high 60's- 70 ish MPH rig.. I'd recommend getting it checked out by a qualified tech.

I'd think you should be able to turn a 25 trophy or tempest to 5800 and get about 70.

Something not right on that rig. I was seeing 60 with my 150.
Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!
