    Boat capsized

My boat capsized last weekend in freshwater.

Got it back on the trailer, pulled the plugs on the Evinrude 25hp electric start, cleared the water, sprayed WD40 and it started right up.

Trolling motor is fine. Three graphs work fine.

Drained the fuel tank and put gas in it Saturday. Went to start and nothing. Turn key and voltage meter on dash moves and works.

Battery is fully charged at 12.6v measured at the battery post.

Shifter is in neutral and wiggling it didnt help.

Man over board tether is still plugged in.

I can turn flywheel by hand so motor not seized.

What would you suspect may be a problem and what else should I check.

    Thanks.

Check the small terminals on the starter solenoid for 12 volts when the key is turned to "Start". One should get 12 when you hit start. You might also check the big solenoid terminal that comes from the battery, 12 volts all the time. Since you didn't say you heard a click, start there.

Does the volt meter drop any when the key is turned to start?
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

    Thanks for the help.

Big post on starter relay/solenoid had 12+v. Small post had zero volts and got 12+V when key turned. So ignition switch was working. Tapped relay with a hammer and she freed up. Took boat out and had a hard time keeping it running. Finally cleared her throat and seems to work fine. ty.

You're going to have some moisture from the tanks and lines that will have to work it's way out. I'd and some condensation remover of some type. I think STP, Stabil, and other brands have it. You might also consider changing the plugs.

Sea-Foam is a good moisture remover for the fuel system.

Hope you have got it started and ran it for awhile. Water inside the motor is not a good thing, corrosion happens quickly...

Ethanol gas can be your friend, it has dry gas built in to it, 10%.

Sorry Charlie, it can carry the water through a motor in solution. Maybe not the best solution: - Ethanol gasoline is hygroscopic (will absorb water) and can absorb 50 times morewater than conventional non-alcohol gasoline. - Phase separation occurs in E10 gas, when only 0.5% water or 3.8 teaspoons water per gallon of fuel is absorbed. ... The ethanol blend can dissolve much more water, up to 6000-7000 ppm.
