    Potentially looking at a 396

I ran across a 2006 396 that appears to be in good shape but I have a couple of transom questions.
What's the construction? And how worried should I be about this?
    TIA Paul

Agree nothing to worry about just stress cracks in the gel coat every boat has them.

I have been pretty fortunate with my Cobra. Not one stress crack on it. Bad stress cracks make it hard to resale even if no structural issues. Does that hull have a transferable warranty in case the stress cracks get really bad?

White is one of the worst colors for cracks. First of all they are soooo much more visible that a color or flaked boat and I was told that the white is a weaker color for some reason??

I have some pics I’ll post to get a better understanding of how charger build their transom ,the way it’s constructed if it was bad the whole rear of the boat would come off ,but as much glass that they use I don’t even know if it would be possible to rip it off ,heres a couple for now .

Here’s a couple of the 210 same build quality just different way of doing it

This is a good example of the motor bolts not going through the top cap as the glue/glass bond that holds the top cap to the transom becomes weak the bolts actually put pressure squeeze I guess you could say and the splash are will move and develop gel coat cracks. With the bolts not going through the top cap you won’t have the crack problem in that area.

Is the boat asking price reasonable?

Is this the one from Iowa that use to be in the for sale section here on BBC that was listed in January I think? I know he had another powerhead (it may have been rebuilt) put on it to replace the original one.

New powerhead to replace the old one if that is the case. Definitely want to look at the paperwork on the powerhead. Maybe it has a warranty since it is a replacement powerhead..

You won't go wrong with a 396. Had one for 10yrs and wouldn't hesitate to own another.
    I got nothin

Thank you for the answers everyone. Im.not sure this will be the right rig for me. After looking closer at the pics I recieved the bottom of the hull towards the rear has several spots where it's been poorly patched, and he claims the previous owner had the powerhead replaced because of a miss. He has the paperwork for the powerhead but couldn't tell me if there's any warranty of when it was done. He also said he's only had the boat for a couple months, to me there's to much grey area for me to feel comfortable.
