Thanks everyone. I think the hardest part is seeing him so immobile. He's been through 3 other cancers. Throat/tongue cancer back in 1984 and thyroid only 3 years ago. The throat cancer changed our lives and showed me the kind of fighter that my dad is. The thyroid was easy. But this is the only time we have ever been told its incurable. And that is the tough part because he isn't a candidate for surgery. Keeping the faith that he has more quality time with us and just take it moment by moment.
's sent to all involved
for you and your dad.

"The man of system is apt to be very wise in his own conceit; and is often so enamored with the supposed beauty of his own ideal plan of government that he cannot suffer the smallest deviation from any part of it…He seems to imagine that he can arrange the different members of a great society with as much ease as the hand arranges the different pieces upon a chessboard.” Adam Smith, The Theory of Moral Sentiments

Went through this with my mom and dad.Be sure to tell him every day how much you love him and what a great dad he is.
Hospice is very helpful during this time.
As a man of faith I remember the passage in II Samuel when King David's son died. David said "the child cannot come to me, but I can go to him". I claimed this promise because I know that my parents cannot come to me but I can join them in Heaven.May our Lord grant you the peace that passes understanding.
