2003 Yamaha VMax ox66 250 hp leaking water / oil where lower unit meets midsection

I noticed my 2003 Yamaha VMax ox66 250 hp outboard is leaking oil / water from the seam where the lower unit meets the midsection and comes to a point. Is this an easy fix or am I looking at a major issue? I’m guessing some sort of seal or gasket failed. Thanks in advance!

Lower unit oil should not be leaking out of anything that high up? Is it engine oil?

I’m not 100% what it is... I just noticed it on the lip of the motor and on my motor toter. It seemed to have a tacky / thick feel to it like oil and it was brownish / yellow in color.

Pull drain plugs and check lower unit fluid. If it’s the same milky, then you have seals leaking and it’s pushing out the upper crankshaft seal.

Yes, if it's that color and tacky feeling it may be LU oil. Check the LU for water intrusion as stated above.
