    Issue with Helix 7

So the Helix 7 on the bow of my boat I'm having some issues with. It will work fine for a while then it will all of a sudden read depths of 700, 800 or whatever depth and you might be in 20 foot, and it takes a while for it to go back to normal.
I tried turning it off then back on again and it makes no difference.
I have noticed it also when pulling the trolling motor up and moving them when it goes back down it dont want to work. But it will do it while your just fishing running the troller
Does this sound like a bad transducer?

    Where is the transducer located?

Does it do that when the motor is not running?

Do you have another unit on the boat operating?

Did you set the Max depth to just more than the deepest water you navigate on?

Which one of the about two dozen Helix 7 models?

    It's a helix 7 di g2n
It does it at any time it's just random.
Duce is on the trolling motor
    Max depth is on auto
I have a helix 9 Di Si g2n that works perfect on the console dice for it is on the back of the boat

Did you install the proper transducer for the trolling motor?
    XTM 9 DI 25 T or XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T

Do you set the console unit on Standby or turn it off when at the bow?

Try it, your issue may be cross-talk.

Is the trolling motor transducer shaped like this one?

The long and slim is the TRANSOM transducer. You should have the proper one for a trolling motor application that I listed in post #4.

You may have another issue, but you have to start with the proper installation.

New with the hummingbirds and the newer electronics.
Still learning them but really like the birds a lot over the lowrance I have

Since there are two trolling motor pucks, you have to decide what 2D sonar coverage you want at the bow.

The XTM 9 DI 25 T is tuned to the same 2D frequencies as the transom transducer----200/455 kHz with spec coverage of 28/16 degrees.
Unit setting is DI 200/455 kHz

The XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T is tuned to 83/200 kHz with spec coverage of 60/20 degrees.
Unit setting is DI 83/200 kHz.

    My
    helix 7 di g2n
does the exact same thing and has for the 6 months I have owned the boat. I am interested in a fix also. It gets tiring restarting after I put the trolling motor down.

Luke, I completed the software update a few days ago and fished today without a single issue this trip.

I haven't got to mess with it much
But my units were both updated before I used them

    Wayne,

wanted to update this a little.
2 weekends ago had the boat back out and tried to put the console unit on standby and still the front unit would just get a spell and would read the depth way wrong like 1000 foot or something like that.
it didn't stay like that as long as the first time I noticed it but it was still acting odd.

Did it do that with or without the motor running or both?
