Plaquemines parish residents to pay $50 annually,non-residents $250 use public lands

    — and pay an annual fee that will cost $50 for parish residents and $250 for non-residents. Ordinance 18-41,which was sponsored by Councilman Jeff Edgecombe and passed unanimously on April 26, currently stipulates that fishermen would also have to sign the agreement and pay the fee to fish on parish property.

Wow, how long before other parishes turn The Sportsman Paradise into a pay to fish public waters paradise?

It is a really sad day if they enforce this along with Louisiana Dept of Wildlife and fisheries.

It might be time that the federal government should take away all the money they pour into that parish for coastal restoration of public lands away from it.

Terrible law. Sounds like traffic cameras. Just a money grab.

Jeez,,When the state gets wind of this we are going to have to pay to access the 3 state owned water bodies too. This can't be right. Maybe DU and their checkbook will get involved?

The Parish Council is supposed to meet and change this ordinance...to just ...hunters. Supposedly...the Parish President hates mudboats, and says they are very...destructive.

Maybe the other parishes in the state should charge plaquemines parish residents to drive on their parish roads

Read that wildlife and fisheries isn't going to enforce this law. So good luck to the sheriffs department on this one.

The public owns the water and fish but the landowners own the legislature.

Give them enough time in office and big business owns them all.

La wildlife and fisheries won't enforce it an sheriff won't either, I live here and won't/wouldn't buy it , this parish used to be one of the richest in the state but the waste and corruption has brought it down, we can't even keep ditches and neutral grounds cut
